Tragedy in Salcedo carnival: Another child dies; 4 victims total
SALCEDO – A fourth person died after 6 p.m. on Saturday, bringing the death toll to 4 as a result of the misfortune that occurred in this city last Sunday during the closing of the Salcedo 2024 carnival.
The child who died was Yoel Alexander García, six years old, and who was confined in the Arturo Grullón Children’s Hospital in Santiago de los Caballeros, where three infants remain in critical condition, according to the authorities of the care above center.
On Saturday morning, Mr. Henry Rosario Ortega, 53 years old, also died at the Neid Arias Lora Traumatological Hospital after he had shown a notable improvement in his delicate clinical condition during the last 72 hours.
Similarly, last Friday, two children, 13 and 5 years of age, respectively, died, filling the city of Salcedo with heavy sadness. The children who died last Friday were Ángel Santos and Andriel Leonardo Abreu, both hospitalized at the Arturo Grullón Hospital in Santiago.
According to a source, the children Cesar Junior Polonia, 15, Edwin Arias, 16, Aquiel Diloné and Carlos Blanco, both 11 respectively, are in delicate condition, so Salcedo’s family and friends have cried out for the population to continue joining the chain of prayer for the recovery of those mentioned.

In the same order, Mr. Elvis Santos, father of Angel Santos, who also died last Friday and whom the authorities accuse of not knowing how to handle fireworks cartridges, was placed under house arrest.
