MIREX and National Police sign agreement to combat human trafficking and migrant smuggling
Santo Domingo.- The Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MIREX) and the National Police signed a collaboration agreement to enhance the investigation and monitoring of human trafficking and migrant smuggling cases involving Dominicans both locally and abroad. The agreement, signed by Foreign Minister Roberto Álvarez and National Police Director General Ramón Guzmán Peralta, enables the secure exchange of information through a shared computer system, improving the management and investigation of reports.
This partnership allows MIREX to share complaints received through its website, while the National Police will provide updates on ongoing investigations. Minister Álvarez highlighted that the collaboration strengthens the institutions’ response to trafficking and smuggling cases, enhancing national security and human rights protection. Guzmán Peralta emphasized the agreement’s role in optimizing the fight against organized crime and supporting police reform.
Key departments from both institutions will oversee coordination, ensuring effective communication and investigation progress. The agreement was signed in the presence of vice ministers and other officials from MIREX and the National Police.
