High Court judge ordered to testify in case of land fraud ‘mafia’

Santo Domingo.- The National District 2nd Panel Court on Wednesday ordered Constitutional Court judge Wilson Gomez to appear as a witness in the case of a mafia that forged deeds.

Judges Sara Veras, Leonardo Recio and Liset Naranjo ruled for the request of the defense attorneys in the trial against several people, includes Land Court officials, charged with conspiracy for forge titles of property five years ago.

Among those charged with forming part of the network busted in 2009 figure Edwin Baquero Álvarez, Walter Lendof Cabrera, Ricardo Antonio Mota Quezada, and former Supreme Court auditor Giovanni Arturo de Jesús Santana Rivera.
