INPOSDOM accused of violating labor rights and ignoring court rulings

Santo Domingo.- Attorney Oliver Batía on Tuesday accused the Dominican Postal Institute (INPOSDOM) administration, led by Erick Alberto Guzmán, of consistently violating the labor rights of its employees and ignoring multiple court rulings that mandate compensation for dismissed public servants. Batía, head of the Batía Ramos Legal Center, emphasized that this neglect of judicial orders is a breach of fundamental rights and undermines the integrity of public administration.

Batia stated that despite clear rulings from the Higher Administrative Court, INPOSDOM has failed to fulfill its legal obligations to compensate workers who have been unjustly deprived of their rights after years of service. He criticized this ongoing issue as a severe violation of both labor and administrative rights, setting a dangerous precedent for institutional respect and rule of law in the Dominican public sector.

Among the specific cases Batía outlined were significant sums owed to workers, including unpaid vacation and Christmas salaries, severance pay, and back wages. Notably, Ms. Raisa Margarita del Castillo is owed over RD$1.7 million in severance and lost wages. Other workers are also awaiting overdue payments and reinstatements. Batía reported that due to INPOSDOM’s delay in fulfilling these obligations, the institution has accumulated more than RD$1.6 million in fines.

In conclusion, Batía called for immediate action from authorities to ensure compliance with the court rulings and to protect the labor rights of INPOSDOM employees, demanding justice and respect for the legal process.

The authorities would be jumping down the throats of owners of private businesses that ignored labor rights and court rulings. However, when it is the government doing the misconduct, the authorities have blinders on.

It is a reminder of an engineer, a private contractor, who had a government school contract around 2015. He was not getting paid timely for his services, delays, delays, delays…. He had to take out loans to pay for materials and labor. It got to be too much for him to handle. He committed suicide.
