President Abinader leads agreement between Dominican and American Natural History Museums
Santo Domingo.- President Luis Abinader oversaw the signing of a landmark agreement between the American Museum of Natural History (AMNH) and the Dominican Republic’s National Museum of Natural History “Professor Eugenio de Jesús Marcano” (MNHN). This partnership aims to promote scientific research, cultural preservation, and biodiversity conservation. President Abinader reaffirmed the government’s commitment to strengthening the nation’s museums, emphasizing this initiative as a regional model for museum development. He highlighted the agreement as a transformative step for the Dominican Republic’s cultural and educational sectors.
The collaboration includes technical support, collection management, and exhibit exchanges. The partnership also focuses on developing a state-of-the-art planetarium, a project celebrated by Dominican-born U.S. Congressman Adriano Espaillat as a source of inspiration for Dominican youth.
Key stakeholders, including Rosa Margarita Bonetti de Santana, president of the MNHN Volunteer Group, emphasized the partnership’s broad scope, which includes training, consultancy, and modern planetarium design. Officials present at the signing included Dominican ambassador Sonia Guzmán and legal advisor Antoliano Peralta. This collaboration reflects the Dominican Republic’s commitment to advancing scientific outreach and cultural innovation.
