Santo Domingo Metro extension to Los Alcarrizos nears final phase

Santo Domingo.- The Office for the Reorganization of Transportation (OPRET) announced the completion of the viaduct connection for the Santo Domingo Metro extension to Los Alcarrizos, marking significant progress in the project, now 95% complete. This milestone brings the initiative into its final phase, reinforcing its adherence to international quality standards and safety protocols.

The 6.3-kilometer viaduct is being rigorously supervised by Epsa-Labco, the Central American Bank for Economic Integration (CABEI), and TYPSA, ensuring transparency and reliability. Current work includes rail installation, placement of electric poles for train tracks, lighting systems, and finalizing drainage systems in a 940-meter tunnel completed earlier this year.

OPRET Director Rafael Santos Pérez commended the progress, attributing it to collaboration with national and international firms. He emphasized the project’s transformative impact on mobility and quality of life for thousands of citizens, highlighting President Luis Abinader’s leadership in advancing the Dominican Republic’s railway development.
