Minister Bisonó assures stable LPG supply in the Dominican Republic

Santo Domingo.- Minister of Industry, Commerce, and MSMEs, Víctor “Ito” Bisonó, confirmed that the Dominican Republic has a sufficient supply of liquefied petroleum gas (LPG), including reserves for other Caribbean nations. Addressing concerns during La Semanal con la Prensa, he attributed minor delivery delays to fog but ruled out any risk of shortages, instead describing the situation as temporary fuel rationing.

Bisonó announced that a new shipment carrying over 400,000 tons of LPG is expected to arrive before noon tomorrow, reinforcing existing reserves. He also assured that the Dominican government has consistently paid fuel suppliers within a 30-day period for the past four years, avoiding any outstanding debts.

The Ministry of Industry, Commerce, and MSMEs (MICM) emphasized that while a key supplier has experienced weather-related delays, LPG remains available nationwide. Reports of closed bottling plants were attributed to scheduled maintenance rather than supply issues. The MICM continues to monitor the sector closely to ensure stability and uninterrupted distribution.
