Awareness camp for young people
Ecoheroes Camp Launched
The Ministry of Environment and Natural Resources and Regional School 15 of the Ministry of Education (MINERD) will hold the Ecoheroes Camp, with the participation of 2,000 upper elementary school students from six schools in Santo Domingo and the National District, to promote environmental education.
Environment Minister Paíno Henríquez led the launch of the camp, which will run from the 21st to the 25th of this month, highlighting the importance of changing the culture of environmental education in the country to achieve the transformation it needs.
“This is the seed that is planted and that reaches far beyond schools. These children become ambassadors for the environment, and this is the legacy we can leave with this type of initiative, not only with the camp, but with the progress made in formalizing the necessary academic training that must be incorporated into the curriculum throughout the country,” he emphasized.
The Director of Environmental Education, Daryelin Torres, noted that this is the first time the ministry has held a camp of this magnitude following the approval of Law 94-20 on Environmental Education and Communication, as a pilot program within the framework of the Presidential Goal on Environmental Education 2024-2028.
