Asopreturd launched in Puerto Plata to strengthen tourism journalism

Puerto Plata.- The Dominican Republic Tourism Press Association (Asopreturd) has been established as a non-profit organization dedicated to promoting research, education, and ethical communication in the tourism sector, both nationally and internationally.

Launched in Puerto Plata, the birthplace of Dominican tourism, Asopreturd aims to foster growth through specialized journalism, professional training, and the integration of committed industry professionals. The association will have branches in key tourist and urban areas across the country, including Sosúa-Cabarete, Santiago, Samaná, La Romana, Santo Domingo, as well as in Miami and New York, where large Dominican communities with strong ties to the tourism industry are based.

Asopreturd’s creation marks a significant step toward the professionalization of tourism journalism and the strengthening of national identity through tourism. Its founders are calling on communicators, academics, industry entrepreneurs, and other strategic allies to join and contribute to this new platform aimed at advancing the sector.

A somewhat unfortunate choice of acronym! The word “turd” coming at the end of this is very well-known as vulgar slang for a lump of excrement. If this organization does not want to be labeled as the source of “turd” maybe an alternative might be in order! Even more so, as the start of this is As! I really cannot believe no one spotted this. Or is this whole article a joke?
