“Republic of Ideas” contest seeks innovative proposals to transform Dominican Republic

Santo Domingo.- The Government of the Dominican Republic has launched “Republic of Ideas,” a national innovation competition aimed at gathering proposals that will help transform the country by the year 2036. This initiative invites citizens, diaspora members, and legally residing foreigners to contribute actionable ideas focused on three key sectors: education, MSMEs, and agribusiness.

President Luis Abinader emphasized the collaborative spirit behind the initiative, saying, “The future is not built by the State alone. We build it together.” The contest supports the government’s Meta RD 2036 strategic plan, which envisions doubling the nation’s GDP and implementing reforms to enhance equity, opportunity, and quality of life. The competition, spearheaded by the Presidency and the National Competitiveness Council (CNC), seeks solutions that are innovative, impactful, and locally relevant.

Eligibility and Key Dates:

  • Open to Dominicans 18+ (residents and diaspora) and legal foreign residents.

  • Teams of 3–5 people must apply via www.republicadeideas.do.

  • Application period: July to September 2025.

  • Webinars and mentoring: August–September 2025.

  • Brainstorming Camp: November 2025.

  • National Expo and awards: January 2026.

Prizes:

  • Up to $25,000 USD for winning teams.

  • Finalists (50 teams) receive $1,000–$2,000 USD, mentorship, and access to international innovation networks.

This initiative aims to harness the collective talent of the nation to create lasting, inclusive development across strategic sectors.

Another distraction. Now the president is asking poor uneducated Dominicans to give the government ideas as to how to fix the nations problems. In a country invaded by Haitians (who take the little we have of social services), with no electricity, no running water, no education system, no healrhcare system, with a corrupt government, and plagued with violence and crime. This is nothing but distraction

You guys only ever complain and focus on the negative things. I personally think this is a GREAT initiative, don’t see anything wrong with it.
