Celso Marranzini: no summer blackouts in the Dominican Republic by 2026
Santo Domingo.- Celso Marranzini, president of the Unified Council of Electricity Distribution Companies, announced that by 2026, the Dominican Republic is expected to no longer experience power outages caused by high summer energy demand. Speaking during a press briefing at La Semanal, he noted that even this summer, such interruptions will be significantly reduced.
Marranzini highlighted the ongoing challenge of reducing energy losses, which he said requires both infrastructure investments and greater public cooperation. “We’re working on the networks. Losses harm the national budget, especially when people avoid paying for electricity. But recent initiatives are helping raise awareness,” he stated.
To improve service quality, the sector is focusing on modernizing substations and expanding the electrical grid. These upgrades aim to provide more stable and efficient energy distribution across the country, ensuring reliable electricity access for all.

…and the Titanic is unsinkable.
Fingers crossed!
I’ve heard this before, but keep in mind he said no more power outages caused by high summer demand. It doesn’t mean there won’t be power outages caused by something else.
