Santo Domingo.- Santo Domingo Mayor Carolina Mejía emphasized that the Dominican Republic’s economic growth is largely driven by the responsible involvement of business leaders who work alongside government initiatives. Speaking before the Board of Directors of the Santo Domingo Chamber of Commerce and Production, where she presented the Santo Domingo Integrated Plan (PISD), Mejía also recognized public servants committed to the nation’s progress.
Lucile Houellemont, president of the Chamber, welcomed Mejía and presented her with an honorary membership card. The meeting, held in the José Manuel Armenteros conference room, highlighted the PISD as a landmark inter-institutional strategy aimed at promoting sustainable and organized urban development in the capital.
Backed by President Luis Abinader and Mayor Mejía, the plan focuses on urban development, sustainability, and mobility. Current projects include the Malecón Deportivo and Paseo 30 de Mayo, alongside initiatives to improve road connectivity, protect the historic center, and expand strategic tourism infrastructure.
