Dominican Ballet in Europe to showcase national dance at Expo Osaka 2025 in Japan

Japan.- The Dominican Republic will celebrate its National Day at Expo Osaka 2025 on Saturday, August 23, with a program showcasing the country’s cultural richness. The Dominican Ballet in Europe (BDE) will headline the festivities, presenting a repertoire of emblematic merengue, bachata, and other rhythms, including El Farolito, Caña Brava, Compadre Pedro Juan, La Mangulina, Bachata en Fukuoka, and Por Amor.

BDE artistic director Héctor Farías expressed pride in representing the Dominican Republic on such a prestigious stage, noting that their performance will highlight both tradition and innovation in Dominican dance. “Every step we take is a tribute to our identity and our people,” he said.

The program will also feature a flag-raising ceremony, institutional speeches, pavilion visits, and a cultural show with pianist Josean Jacobo and his orchestra, as well as carnival performances by the Ecological Devils of San Cristóbal and Los Broncos de La Vega.
