DGM detains 165 undocumented immigrants in three provinces

MAO, Valverde. The General Directorate of Migration carried out interdiction operations today in Constanza, Santiago Rodríguez, and this municipality, resulting in the arrest of 165 Haitian nationals in an irregular situation.

The immigration control units’ work began early this morning, furthering their efforts to ensure the country maintains its prevailing climate of peace, social stability, and economic growth.

Fifty-two people were detained in Constanza, and the remaining 113 were detained in areas within Santiago Rogríguez and this district. All were apprehended with respect for their rights and physical integrity and transferred to various processing centers for undocumented immigrants available to the DGM. These centers will be identified based on biometric data and fingerprints, their legal status will be determined, and deportation will be initiated if they have no pending legal proceedings.

The operations, carried out using extensive intelligence strategies, are conducted in close collaboration with the Ministry of Defense, the Army, Navy, Air Force, National Police, Cesfront, Ciutran, Digesett, and the Public Prosecutor’s Office, among other agencies. This effective inter-institutional work reflects the Government’s forward-looking vision and commitment to continue strengthening the nation’s immigration and security policies.
