INDOMET monitors Tropical Storm Fernand

Santo Domingo.- The Dominican Institute of Meteorology (INDOMET) reported that Tropical Storm Fernand continues to be monitored, but currently poses no threat to the Dominican Republic. As of 7:00 a.m., the storm was located about 950 kilometers south-southeast of Newfoundland, Canada, moving eastward at 19 km/h (12 mph).

Fernand has maximum sustained winds of 75 km/h (45 mph), with stronger gusts, and tropical-storm-force winds extending up to 160 km (100 miles) from its center. Meteorologists expect the storm to maintain its intensity, shifting to an east-northeastward path and potentially dissipating by Thursday night.

INDOMET confirmed it will release a new update at 1:00 p.m., keeping the public informed about any changes in Fernand’s trajectory or intensity.
