Port-au-Prince.- Two people, including an officer of the Multinational Security Support Mission (MSS), died Sunday in an accident during a rescue operation in the Kenscoff area of Port-au-Prince. Eight others, all MSS personnel, were injured, according to official reports.

The MSS confirmed that three of the injured are in serious condition and will be transferred to the Dominican Republic for specialized treatment after receiving initial care at Aspen Hospital in Haiti. The second fatality was a Haitian citizen, as confirmed by the Prime Minister’s Office.

The accident occurred when one armored vehicle, towing another, crashed into a wall, causing the second vehicle to overturn. The Prime Minister’s Office expressed deep sorrow over the tragedy, noting it underscores the risks faced by international forces working to restore security in Haiti. The MSS, composed of about 1,000 personnel—mostly from Kenya—supports the Haitian National Police in confronting armed gangs that control much of the capital.
