Claudia Sheinbaum declines to attend Summit of the Americas in Punta Cana
Mexico.- Mexican President Claudia Sheinbaum announced that she will not attend the 10th Summit of the Americas, scheduled to take place from December 1 to 5 in Punta Cana, Dominican Republic. The confirmation came during her daily press briefing at the National Palace, where she simply stated, “No, I will not go,” when asked by reporters.
Sheinbaum explained that her decision is partly due to Mexico’s current emergency situation caused by heavy rains that have left multiple casualties. She also expressed her disagreement with the exclusion of Cuba, Venezuela, and Nicaragua from the summit, reaffirming her government’s stance against excluding any nation from regional dialogues.
The Mexican president said authorities are still considering whether the country will be represented by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. The Dominican Republic, as the host nation, confirmed the exclusions, arguing that the decision aims to ensure a favorable environment for dialogue under the theme “Building a Secure, Sustainable Hemisphere of Shared Prosperity.”

Mexico under different administrations has always preferred the inclusion of governments not in line with Uncle Sam…
speaks volumes about their national attitude toward the free world.
