Lawrence, Massachusetts.- The mayor of Santo Domingo Oeste, Francisco Peña, and the mayor of Lawrence, Massachusetts, Brian A. De Peña, formalized a cooperation agreement during a ceremony held at Lawrence City Hall, marking a new stage of institutional and cultural collaboration between the two cities.
The signing took place in celebration of Hispanic Heritage Day on October 12 and the anniversary of Santo Domingo Oeste’s founding on October 16. The agreement aims to strengthen international ties and promote cultural, educational, social, and economic exchange through the development of joint projects benefiting both communities.
The event was attended by local officials, community leaders, and cultural representatives. Councilor Jassiel Díaz and coordinator Francia Santana played key roles in facilitating the partnership. During the ceremony, both mayors exchanged symbolic gifts — including city keys, national flags, and an honorary award — underscoring the spirit of unity between the Dominican Republic and the United States.
