Dominican Consulate in Barcelona joins global leaders at World in Progress 2025

Barcelona, Madrid.- The Consulate General of the Dominican Republic in Barcelona participated in World in Progress Barcelona (WIP) 2025, an international forum organized by the Prisa Group that gathered political, diplomatic, academic, and business leaders—including Spain’s King Felipe VI—to discuss global challenges and sustainable solutions.

Now in its second edition, the event has become a key platform for dialogue on geopolitical, energy, social, and environmental issues shaping the future of Europe and Latin America. Dominican Consul General Antonio Gómez emphasized the country’s commitment to strengthening its diplomatic presence and alliances, noting that participation in forums like WIP highlights the Dominican Republic’s dedication to democracy, cooperation, and sustainable development.

The meeting featured figures such as European Commission Vice President Teresa Ribera, Josep Borrell, Matteo Renzi, Édouard Philippe, and Juan Manuel Santos, among others. Discussions covered topics including energy transition, governance, inequality, organized crime, and new social contracts. The presence of high-ranking officials from Europe and the Americas positioned WIP Barcelona as one of the most significant global events for cross-regional collaboration and policy dialogue.
