U.S. Embassy in Santo Domingo resumes consular services
Santo Domingo.- The U.S. Embassy in Santo Domingo announced it will resume both routine and emergency consular services starting this Monday, following the decision by the Emergency Operations Center (COE) to lower the alert level in Santo Domingo province from red to yellow.
According to a statement posted on the embassy’s official Instagram account, the Visa Assistance Center at Sambil will also reopen and return to normal operations. The embassy explained that the decision reflects the improvement in weather conditions and the ongoing monitoring of Hurricane Melissa by local authorities.
Nevertheless, the embassy cautioned that Hurricane Melissa remains a dangerous storm capable of changing course unexpectedly and could continue producing heavy rainfall and localized damage in some regions of the Dominican Republic throughout the coming week.
