Nationwide blackout affects Dominican Republic

Santo Domingo.- The Dominican Republic is currently experiencing a nationwide blackout following a major failure in the national electricity transmission system, according to reports from the Dominican Electricity Transmission Company (ETED) and the Unified Council of Electricity Distribution Companies (CUED).

Celso Marranzini, president of CUED, confirmed the widespread outage and assured that technical teams are working to restore electricity as soon as possible. ETED explained that the blackout originated from a breakdown in the transmission network after the simultaneous shutdown of generating units at the San Pedro de Macorís Electricity Company (CESPM). This failure also affected the Quisqueya Power Plant, triggering a cascading effect that disrupted other major facilities, including EDAC and AES Andrés.

ETED reports that extensive technical work is underway across several regions to restore service while maintaining the stability of the national interconnected system. The company apologized to the public for the inconvenience caused and thanked citizens for their patience, emphasizing that this is an unforeseen situation affecting the national power grid.

If you live in the DR, it’s best to invest in solar panels and install them in your property. The national grid is so shit and it the massive blackout shows.
