Santo Domingo.- President Luis Abinader chaired a meeting of the Prices and Supply Committee on Wednesday, joined by representatives from the industrial, agricultural, and commercial sectors, to ensure stable supply and pricing during the upcoming Christmas season. Coordinated by Industry and Commerce Minister Víctor “Ito” Bisonó, the meeting at the National Palace reviewed national production levels, international market trends, and joint strategies to strengthen coordination between the government and private sector.
Abinader assured that there will be no supply problems in December or January, highlighting the importance of maintaining constant dialogue with producers and traders. Business leaders praised the government’s planning and coordination efforts, which they said have bolstered confidence across the supply chain and allowed for proactive responses to potential logistical challenges.
The government announced continued monitoring of prices and inventories, as well as coordinated support for farmers affected by Tropical Storm Melissa through the Ministry of Agriculture, FEDA, and Pro Consumidor. Measures include helping restore crop production and stabilizing prices for essential goods such as bananas, rice, cassava, and chicken, ensuring their availability nationwide.
