Tourism generates 815,000 jobs in the Dominican Republic
Santo Domingo.- The Dominican Republic welcomed 9,283,767 visitors between January and October 2025, generating over 815,000 jobs and contributing more than US$15 billion in added value to the national economy, according to Tourism Minister David Collado.
Collado emphasized that the figures represent more than statistics: “They reflect employment and better living conditions for Dominicans.” The tourism sector generated USD$15.56 billion in added value, USD$5.47 billion in net external income, and RD 19.98 billion in tax revenues, underscoring its direct impact on the population.
From January to October, 7.16 million tourists arrived by air, a 34% increase from 2019 and 9% more than in 2023, while 2.11 million arrived by sea, marking a 153% jump from 2019 and 25% growth year over year. In October alone, the country received 691,073 visitors, breaking monthly records.
The United States led arrivals with 38%, followed by Canada (10%), Argentina (9%), and Colombia (6%). The busiest airports were Punta Cana (60%), Las Américas (24%), and Cibao (12%).
