Aguají becomes first Dominican restaurant on Latin America’s 50 Best list

Sosúa, Puerto Plata.- Aguají, the restaurant led by acclaimed Dominican chef Tita, has made history as the first establishment from the Dominican Republic to be included in the prestigious Latin America’s 50 Best Restaurants list, earning the No. 88 spot. Chef Tita celebrated the achievement on Instagram, calling it a historic moment for the country.

Located at The Ocean Club Luxury Collection in Sosúa, Puerto Plata, Aguají pays tribute to Taíno heritage and prioritizes local ingredients, sustainable practices, and collaboration with fishing communities—values that reflect a strong commitment to Dominican identity.

Chef Tita described the recognition as one of the most important milestones of her career and a breakthrough for Dominican gastronomy. Public figures, including Minister of the Presidency José Ignacio Paliza, congratulated her for elevating the country’s culinary profile. The accomplishment is seen as a significant step forward for the national gastronomic scene and an inspiration for future generations.
