Low transparency rank based on expired information: Dominican official

Santo Domingo.- Presidency legal adviser Cesar Pina on Thursday rebuffed theveracity of Transparency International´s ranking the Dominican Republic among theworld´s most corrupt nations, calling the report the result of “expired information.”

"It´s quite likely that they (TI) are using already expired informationsupported in previous details and transparency also has its favoritecorrespondents," the official said.

According to the study released in Berlin Wednesday, Dominican Republicranks 103 after improving on point over last year´s position.

Transparency ranked Uruguay and Chile as the region´s most transparentcountries, and Denmark as the most transparent among the 168 nations analyzed.
