Personalities want to see the President in a debate
Santo Domingo.- The major opposition party’s presidentialcandidate, a prominent business leader and a leading industrialist havechallenged president Danilo Medina to accept taking p art in a debate, thefirst ever in Dominican Republic’s political history.
Opposition party PRM presidential candidate Luis Abinaderon Tuesday again challenged his ruling party (PLD) rival to a debate. "Wereiterate the call for a debate because the country wants to hear proposals, tobe told what is the reality of what was promised and isn’t promised. How totackle insecurity, create jobs and improve health should be discussed.”
Abinader said national problems need to be discussed "ina respectful manner, but with sufficient transparency and therefore wereiterate to president Medina to go to the debate for the country to listen to everyone’sproposals."
PRM candidate spoke after a meeting with Dominican IndustriesAssociation (AIRD) president Campos de Moya, to discuss Abinader’s proposalsfor the industrial sector.
De Moya said the candidates should debate their proposals,while AIRD board members Circe Almanzar and Marisol Vicens agreed that the onlything needed to stage a debate is political will.
