Frenchman in pilots’ escape to be extradited ‘as soon as possible’

Santo Domingo.- The Justice Ministry on Monday said the Frenchnational arrested in Egypt in connection with the escape of two French pilotsconvicted of drug trafficking could arrive in the country in the next few days.

Spokesperson Tessie Sánchez said Egypt is processing thenecessary “paperwork” to extradite Christophe Naudin to the Dominican Republic “assoon as possible.”

Naudin was arrested at Dominican Republic’s request on Feb.4 in a hotel near the Cairo airport, where he had arrived two days before onbusiness.

In October Naudin admitted to French media planning andcarrying out the escape from the Dominican Republic of Pascal Jean Fauret andBruno Odos, the pilots of a plane where authorities seized 700 kilos of cocaineas they were about to take off from Punta Cana airport to France on March 2013,and were sentenced to 20 years in prison.
