RD Vial Trust unveils US$10 million plan to upgrade Eastern Tourist Boulevard

Bávaro.- The RD Vial Trust, led by Hostos Rizik Lugo, unveiled an ambitious plan to upgrade the Eastern Tourist Boulevard, one of the Dominican Republic’s key tourist corridors. The project, with a total investment of US$10 million, aims to widen the road, enhance safety, and implement environmental beautification, including the planting of over 70,000 ornamental and native plants.

The initiative responds to complaints about the boulevard’s deterioration and is part of a broader effort to modernize infrastructure and improve travel experiences in the region. The project will expand the Macao to Uvero Alto section by 13 kilometers, adding four new lanes to increase traffic flow, with funding sourced through the national toll system.

Safety upgrades will include new horizontal and vertical signage, as well as durable guardrails, benefiting the main boulevard and internal roads such as Avenida Bávaro, Avenida España, and Avenida Francia. Beautification efforts are already underway through the “Clean Roads” program, which involves painting railings and cleaning the corridor from Las Américas Avenue to the Punta Cana roundabout.

In collaboration with the National Botanical Garden, the Puntacana Group, and the Beautification Department, the project’s urban reforestation plan will revitalize the landscape, supporting environmental sustainability in the country’s most visited tourist destination.

Not soon enough! Rainieri saw through the delays and initiated the overpass near the airport. We need more overpasses. Gov’t did it in Boca Chica.
