US carriers can impose one-suitcase limit: official

Santo Domingo.-  Civil Aviation Board (JAC) director Luis Ernesto Camilo, on Thurs. said the decision by US airlines to allow passengers just one suitcase free of charge and pay for others form  part of an agreement signed by Dominican Republic with the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO).

Camilo said however, that his agency is studying a resolution issued by the Mexican authorities, that fined five US airlines, which as in the country, limited travelers one suitcase.

Quoted by listin.com.do, the official said the airlines’ decision is based on international commercial aviation policies in effect since 2016. “For our part we now have to look in the manual on international air transport regulations on free market policy.”
