Big plans afoot for country’s deepest port

Santo Domingo.- President Danilo Medina on Mon. met in the National Palace with a commission which rendered a report on the current situation at Manzanillo Port, the country’s deepest.

Medina instructed the commission to render within 90 days a final report on the solution to the pier’s structural problems.

The commission includes the ministers of the Presidency, Gustavo Montalvo, of Public Works, Gonzalo Castillo, among other officials and advisors.

“The head of state is very aware of the current and actual situation of docks at Manzanillo,” said Geology adviser Osiris de León in a press conference after the meeting.
