Puerto Rican kingpin’s watches fetch US$600,358.00 at auction

Santo Domingo.- The National Anti Money Laundering Committee (Concla) today auctioned off 27 of 28 watches seized from convicted Puerto Rican drug baron Jose David Figueroa Agosto, to five retailers who paid a total of US$600,358.

The most expensive sold for the highest bid of 85,000 dollars while the one not sold is priced at 44,000 dollars.

The collected money will be distributed, according to Anti-laundering Law 72 – 02, among nongovernment agencies which work with the treatment of drug addicts, the Justice Ministry and the National Police.

The 28 men’s watches of the makers Audemars Piguet, Roger Dubuis, Hublot Geneva and Rolex were seized via National District First Collegiate Court sentence 100-2011 against Figueroa’s paramour Sobeida Felix, and other convicts.

The retailers who participated in the auction are Jocelle Sharine Heisi, Pablo Cabrera, Adonis Charalambous, Marcos Emanuel Ferrando, Hirayda Fernandez, Fernando Ciccone, the investment company Yang, the importer Barbera and Miledys Aybar, daughter of Luis Aybar, defense lawyer for Eddy Brito, sentenced to 12 years in prison in the Figueroa case.
