Prosecutors want more time in case against airline owner, 16 others

Santo Domingo.- The National District Office of the Prosecutor on Tuesday asked a Santo Domingo court to declare complex the case against 16 people, including Carib-Air airline owner Rafael Rosado, charged in connection with a drug-trafficking ring.

In the request submitted to the 7th Instruction Court the prosecutors claim that the sheer number of defendants, the numerous violations and the fact that the case smacks of organized crime, justify its complexity.

"The indisputable plurality of defendants suggests, furthermore, the need to widen the investigation that involves the collection of evidence and information not only over much of the country, but also in several Caribbean nations," the request says.

Judge Kenya Romero rescheduled the hearing for May 9, after four defendants failed to appear.
