Protect citizens, admiral tells troops sent to fight street crimes
Santo Domingo.- Armed Forces minister Sigfrido Pared on Wednesday reminded the military troops assigned to patrols to prevent street crimes that their primary mission is to protect citizens and eradicate the lack of security.
Speaking in general formation on the Ministry’s esplanade, the military’s only three-star admiral instructed the chiefs of Staff of the Army, Navy and Air Force to appoint inspectors for each of their branches, to supervise the prevention effort.
Pared instructed the senior officers to deploy the troops for security patrols in the main shopping and residential areas, roads and streets, and any critical point nationwide.
The official told unit commanders to orient their staff on the threats, mission and rules of engagement applied on land, marine and aerial zones.
