After Trump row, ex-Miss Universe heads to Dominican Republic

Santo Domingo.- Fresh from the national uproar on her disputewith Donald Trump, former Miss Universe Alicia Machado will visit the DominicanRepublic Thursday to launch a campaign against breast cancer with Dominican firstlady Candida Montilla.

The Miss Universe 1996 drew pageant owner Trump’scritique for gaining weight shortly after winning the crown.

The Venezuela-born model, now a US citizen, will accompany Montilla in the event "Let’s fight tostop it" sponsored by the Office of the First Lady to mark breast cancer awareness month.

The model and actress is slated to talk 7pm Thurs. in theForeign Ministry on her personal experience as a breast cancer survivor.
