Big business wants to ‘compete fair and square’ in transport

Santo Domingo.- National Business Council (CONEP) president RafaelBlanco on Monday said the organization’s members only want to "competefair and square" in the transport sector and not replace the currentsystem, which he called "demeaning" and "aggressive."
He said passenger transport needs to be modernized by allowing companiesto participate on equal terms
After a meeting with Chamber of Deputies president Lucia Medina andother CONEP executives, the business leader said public transport users"suffer" by having to use an "archaic" means withoutquality service.
"Nobody wants to replace those who are in the system, we want tocompete fair and square," said Blanco.
Last week the CONEP filed an antitrust suit against the transport associaitons before the AdministrativeSuperior Court, seeking to operate in the country´s varioius passenger andcargo routes.
