Medina cuts ribbon for major hotel in financial district

Santo Domingo.- President Danilo Medina on Wednesdayheaded the inaugural of the hotel Real InterContinental Santo Domingo, which Tourismminister Francisco Javier García attributed to the boom in tourism and thecountry’s attractive business climate.

The 21-floor property located on ChurchillAv., in the heart of the financial district features 227 rooms, within itsmodern tower, and 4-sublevels with 229 parking spaces.

In the keynote speech, Poma Group presidentRicardo Poma said the Dominican Republic instills confidence because of itspeople, its culture of service and hospitality as well as macroeconomicstability and audacious policies to attract investment.

"These elements provide favorable conditionsfor doing business in the country," the business leader said and stressedthe support by government agencies.

The capital’s tourism district expands

Speaking in the activity Tourism ministerFrancisco Javier García said Medina’s efforts have spurred the construction of majorhotels like in that area of capital. "The government’s efforts have led tothe expansion of the tourist area of ??the capital."
