Missing bailiff found in basement

Santo Domingo.- National District Penal Court bailiff Engels Argenis de la Cruz Peguero, 33, who went missing on Friday, was found Sunday in the basement of a building on Km. 9 of the Duarte Highway. He is reported to be in good health.

His father, Marcelino de la Cruz, told reporters that his son was taken to Police headquarters to be questioned in order to establish what had happened.

The law student had left his father’s law office and was on his way to the Property Jurisdiction office on Av. Independencia esq. Jiménez Moya. De la Cruz, former director of the Dominican Committee for Human Rights (CDDH), said that the last contact with his son was on Friday at noon, when he called his brother and said he was going for lunch before visiting the government office.

His father said he tried calling his son at 12.12 but his cellphone was already out of service. He said that his son was carrying around 15,000 pesos for paying the rent.
