Downpours prompt flash flooding alerts

Santo Domingo.- Downpours with thunderstorms are in Friday’s forecast for most regions, from a trough affecting the territory since early morning and expected to remain over the country during the next two days.

The National Weather Office (Onamet) issued flash flooding alerts from swelled rivers and streams for Hato Mayor, Sanchez Ramírez, Monte Plata, Santiago, La Vega, Duarte, Monseñor Noel, María Trinidad Sánchez, Puerto Plata and Espaillat provinces.

It is recommends that people in high-risk areas adopt precautionary measures to avert injury and property damage.
