Downpours over much of the country

Santo Domingo.- The Emergency Operations Center (COE) issued an alert on Wednesday for 16 provinces, warning of heavy rains in the coming hours.

According to a bulletin by the COE, the combination of a trough and a tropical wave over national territory will continue.

It said that Monte Plata, Santiago, San José de Ocoa, La Vega, San Pedro de Macoris, La Romana, Hato Mayor, La Altagracia, El Seibo and Pedernales provinces are under moderate alert, while Greater Santo Domingo, San Cristóbal, Peravia, Azua and Barahona are under heightened alert.
