Tragic accident claims lives on Coral Highway: four fatalities reported

La Altagracia, DR.- Tragedy struck Sunday, on the Coral Highway near the Gina Jaragua sector, as a vehicle overturned, claiming the lives of at least four individuals traveling from  Bávaro direction Santo Domingo.

The victims, Rubens Valme (33), Charmant Lineda (29), Charmant Lydia (25), and the youngest, Anacharsis Michaella Lyline (3), all of Haitian nationality, perished in the accident.

According to preliminary reports, the driver lost control of the vehicle, causing it to collide with the highway’s retaining wall, resulting in the fatal outcome for all occupants.

The victims were aboard a white Hyundai Jeep, Santa Fé model, with license plate G544840, driven by Rubens Valme, who succumbed to the tragedy at the scene.

A young girl, among the passengers, tragically lost her life en route to Nuestra Señora de La Altagracia HGENSA General and Specialty Hospital in Higüey, while Charmant Lydia passed away while receiving medical attention at HGENSA Hospital.

The bodies were later transported by the Nazaret funeral home and examined by the medical examiner, Coral Pache.

The incident has deeply shaken the municipality of Higüey, prompting a swift response from authorities including Digesett agents, 911 units, firefighters, members of the National Police, and Road Safety soldiers.

The vehicle involved in the accident was impounded by Digesett for further investigation.

Tragic. May they all RIP.

When the authorities acquire the gonads to strictly enforce the traffic laws there may be a large reduction of road casualties.

My resigned opinion is the bad traffic situations will continue ad nauseum.
