NGO advocates for dedicated motorcycle lanes
Santo Domingo.- The Dominican Road Mobility Foundation has proposed the introduction of motorways as a solution to enhance urban mobility and alleviate vehicle congestion on the country’s streets, drawing inspiration from successful models implemented in other nations.
Citing examples from countries like Vietnam and Indonesia, where exclusive lanes for motorcycles and smaller vehicles have proven highly effective in traffic management, the foundation suggests that similar measures could be adopted in the Dominican Republic.
These dedicated lanes, separate from regular traffic, have shown to improve traffic flow, reduce travel times, and enhance road safety by minimizing conflicts between drivers.
Miguel Jiménez, president of the foundation, advocates for the implementation of motorways on main roads, under the supervision of the General Directorate of Traffic and Land Transportation Safety, to ensure their effectiveness. Beyond merely regulating traffic, the introduction of motorways could also contribute to mitigating environmental pollution and encouraging the adoption of more efficient and sustainable transportation methods.
Movido calls upon authorities and Dominican society to seriously consider this proposal as a viable means to enhance citizens’ quality of life and ensure safer and smoother transit across different regions. They emphasize that with the support of all stakeholders involved, a more organized and sustainable road infrastructure can be established for the future.
Dedicated lanes would be a waste of time and money to support them. Road lane compliance is obligatory, its practice is voluntary. Why would one think the motoristas would use a dedicated lane? They track wherever they desire and will not change their existing chaotic behavior’s.
Anyway, dedicated moto lanes would be used by all vehicle operators wanting a quicker route to the buffet.
dedicated to who ?
People don’t stop on stop sings and traffic lights …
Delusions are becoming severe …
I hope they’re joking …
“Delusions” is the correct word.
The RD wants to copy what the N. Americans and Europeans do. However, RD civil behaviors needed to support traffic improvements lack the responsible road conducts exampled by the N. Americans and Europeans.
First… the foundation should be seeking a way to change chaotic road behaviors.
Copy UsA and Europe
Boston has done that..it works.
Make them comply by education and fines combination; it will take a couple of generations.
