Dominican Republic and Nicaragua explore expansion of academic ties

Santo Domingo.- The Dominican Minister of Higher Education, Science, and Technology, Dr. Franklin García Fermín, met with Nicaraguan Ambassador Jessica Padilla Leiva to discuss strengthening bilateral relations and promoting academic exchanges between universities in both countries. The meeting focused on opportunities for professor exchanges, student mobility, and the development of international postgraduate and master’s programs.

García Fermín emphasized MESCyT’s goal of fostering educational partnerships through scholarship programs, benefiting hundreds of young people from both nations. He expressed satisfaction with the discussions and proposed organizing a technical meeting between MESCyT and Nicaragua’s Ministry of Education (MINED) to solidify collaboration in science and technology.

Ambassador Padilla Leiva affirmed Nicaragua’s commitment to academic cooperation, highlighting the long-standing historical ties between the two countries.
