Two firefighters affected in Gurabo Free Trade Zone blaze

Santiago, DR.- The National Emergency and Security Response System (9-1-1) coordinated efforts to tackle a fire that broke out on Thursday afternoon at a plastic and paper factory in the Pontezuela Arriba sector of the Santiago municipality. While no serious injuries have been reported, two firefighters experienced smoke inhalation and are receiving treatment.

The response included 13 trucks from fire departments in Santiago, Licey al Medio, Tamboril, Villa González, and Buena Vista, along with support from the Directorate of Extra-Hospital Emergency Services (DAEH), the National Police, and the 911 Drone team. Firefighters are working diligently to prevent the flames from spreading to nearby areas.

The 911 system praised the rapid response and dedication of all teams involved, emphasizing the importance of allowing emergency vehicles to pass without obstruction for efficient handling of such incidents.
