Protest at Plaza de la Bandera calls for immigration control and sovereignty defense

Santo Domingo.- Hundreds of Dominicans gathered on Saturday at Plaza de la Bandera, responding to a call by the “Ancient Dominican Order” movement to demand stricter immigration enforcement from authorities.

One participant, Vásquez, voiced his frustration, stating, “They call us racists for wanting the law enforced. Our hospitals are overwhelmed with pregnant women, and public schools are overburdened with undocumented Haitian students. We’re not against education, but it should happen in Haiti.”

Hernani Aquino, representing the group “RD por lo Alto,” emphasized that the protest was not politically driven, but rather “an act of love.” He called for decisive and lasting measures to protect the border and uphold Dominican sovereignty.

The crazy part of this situation. The people just want the country to enforced the laws that they created.

I agree, you cant blame the people that exploit un-enforced laws. Seal the border

I’m confused. My Dominican people (because I am Dominican), were Haitian before the country was divided in 2 countries and now are Dominicans mixed with the Spanish after the creation of DR in 1844 & the Haitians were dogged by the French being forced to pay “for the loss of slaves” to the French until recent times. Yet nothing is being to bring Haiti up to the standards of the 3rd world, at least, but are being kept with a boot to their necks while they scramble to survive. No wonder they are leaving Haiti! Funny how history is controlled by the “winner” even though in the long run everyone loses.

Alfredo I’m confused, but what are you saying. before they were Dominicans, it was a colony of Spain. With different ancestry language culture. Think about it alfredo why was the revolution of 1822 existed if we were Haitians,. and then afterwards the Haitian imperialisms try to take over 14 times not once or twice but fourteen times. I suggested a history book in Spanish. This is the misunderstandings of a lot Dominicans in the Dr and the United states of America and Europe. They have never read a book on Dominican history or ever wanted to . unfortunately the UN and other organizations have sold a narrative that the Dr is xenophobic racist. In reality USA France Canada want the Dominican republic to take over the problem. The Dr is a third world nation, No matter what people want to sell the world. A third world nation is not going to help a 4th 5 th world nation. France should make Haiti a colony and give it citizenship. They would have access to real money as in euro instead of the Dominica peso and better opportunities. FYI Dominicans were there before the French colonized the other half of the island and started shipping millions of slaves to Hispaniola.

I say give the protesters what they want. Then, let us ALL suffer with the results of it. It will not be what they think it will be. I guarantee it.
