INDRHI Director asserts Fiscal Modernization will ensure economic growth

Santo Domingo.- Olmedo Caba, executive director of the National Institute of Hydraulic Resources (Indrhi), emphasized that the government’s recent initiatives, including the Fiscal Modernization Bill and updates to the labor code, aim to build institutional strength and foster economic growth in the Dominican Republic. He noted that these reforms would enhance legal clarity, boosting confidence in the country’s legal framework. The Fiscal Modernization Bill, in particular, is projected to double the country’s gross domestic product by 2036, with broad political consensus backing its implementation.

Caba highlighted the government’s commitment to improving essential services such as mass transportation, energy stability, and social programs for vulnerable sectors. Additionally, the fiscal proposal includes significant measures to support smaller businesses, including the elimination of advance tax payments for individuals and micro-enterprises, a long-standing demand from multiple sectors. He concluded by stating that the government’s efforts to merge and eliminate certain institutions demonstrate a commitment to the nation’s economic growth and the well-being of its population.
