UFHEC joins the United Nations International Telecommunication Union

Santo Domingo.- Federico Henríquez y Carvajal University (UFHEC) has officially become a member of the International Telecommunication Union (ITU), an agency of the United Nations known for its global telecommunications standards. The university’s national rector, Alberto Ramírez, announced that UFHEC is committed to enhancing and contributing to the development of information and communications technology (ICT) standards.

As the second Dominican institution to join the ITU, UFHEC aims to influence public policy formulation, establish objectives and priorities, and implement best practices in ICT. Ramírez emphasized that the university’s involvement will significantly impact various factors affecting the sector.

This new membership allows UFHEC to participate in study commissions and thematic groups to ensure that ITU-T recommendations address the needs of all global regions while facilitating standardization efforts.
