San Juan, DR.-  The Dominican Army apprehended four Dominicans for smuggling undocumented Haitians through the border. At the El Carril checkpoint in San Juan de la Maguana, Wilmi Sánchez Amador, Ricardo Sánchez Boció, Fraicol Morillo de la Paz, and José Adrián Vallejo were arrested for transporting nine undocumented immigrants in two vehicles. Separately, on the Vengan a Ver highway in Duvergé, Miguel Ángel Medina Cuevas was arrested while driving a minibus carrying four undocumented Haitian nationals.

The vehicles used, including a Mitsubishi minibus, a Hyundai Sonata, and a Honda Civic, were impounded for legal proceedings. The undocumented immigrants were handed over to the General Directorate of Immigration.

In a separate case, Haitian citizen Renau Jean Baptiste was arrested at the Boca de Cachón checkpoint with 375,000 Haitian gourdes, which he attempted to smuggle into Port-au-Prince without a customs declaration.
