Santo Domingo.- This Thursday, more than 300 individuals from 80 economic and social entities and professional associations will gather at the National Congress to express their views on the “Fiscal Modernization” project, which has sparked widespread reactions throughout Dominican society.
Many representatives from various sectors, including professional associations, business groups, and gambling sectors, have previously presented their observations and concerns regarding the proposed new and increased taxes to the Lower House’s Finance Committee.
These sectors are advocating for adjustments to the Fiscal Modernization project proposed by President Luis Abinader’s government, which aims to generate over 122 billion pesos.
Alfredo Pacheco, president of the Lower House, emphasized that the commission’s responsibility is to listen to all parties involved in the tax reform discussions. The Permanent Finance Committee, chaired by Francisco Paulino, is tasked with examining the tax reform project put forth by the Executive Branch.
