Dominican government approves Payita 2 Solar Park

Cabrera.- The Dominican Government, through the National Energy Commission (CNE), signed a contract with LCV Ecoener Solares Dominicana, SRL for the construction and operation of the Payita 2 Photovoltaic Solar Park in Nagua, María Trinidad Sánchez. The park will have an installed capacity of 49.98 MW and 60.04 peak MW, featuring an innovative energy storage system.

The system will store 15 MW and 60 MWh, allowing the park to supply power during high demand or low solar generation, thus improving the country’s electricity grid stability and reliability. CNE Executive Director Edward Veras emphasized this as a key step for energy security and grid resilience, marking progress toward a sustainable energy model.

The project aligns with government efforts to reduce reliance on fossil fuels and promote renewable energy. The signing of the contract took place at the CNE headquarters, with both Veras and Carlos González, representative of LCV Ecoener Solares Dominicana, participating.
