DGII announces 2024-2025 Vehicle Circulation Tax renewal period

Santo Domingo.- The General Directorate of Internal Revenue (DGII) has announced the start of the 2024-2025 Vehicle Circulation Tax renewal on Tuesday, October 22, 2024, covering 1,893,024 vehicles. The government expects to collect RD$3,137,673,000. The tax rates remain unchanged: RD$1,500 for vehicles manufactured up to 2019 and RD$3,000 for those made from 2020 onwards.

Vehicle owners can renew their tags at 49 financial institutions with 859 branches nationwide, or at DGII offices in Villa Vásquez, Montecristi, and Sánchez, Samaná, until January 31, 2025. Online renewals are available through the DGII website and mobile app until January 19, 2025. A photocopy of the vehicle registration is required for all renewals.

Penalties apply for late renewals: RD$2,000 for those who miss the January 31 deadline, RD$2,100 for those who missed last year’s renewal, and RD$3,100 for renewals missed in 2022-2023 or earlier. Vehicle owners are urged to renew on time to avoid these fees.
